The marine satellite antenna technology company Intellian had opened a new South Korea-based facility thereby tripling production capacity and increasing its R&D resources.
Intellian, a technological company which makes marine satellite antennas, announced today that it has opened a state-of-the-art facility for research and development (R&D), manufacturing, shipping and training. Located just south of Seoul, South Korea, home to some of the most well known electronics manufactures in the world, the Intellian Innovation Center is a brand-new 71,000 square foot (6,612 square meter), four-story building designed for increased production and technology development opportunities. R&D is the heart of the Intellian Innovation Center, offering even greater frequency of product testing with the versatility to simulate harsh marine conditions in-house.
The Korean Intellian Innovation Center’s training facilities will provide partners with an opportunity to gain in-depth product knowledge, hands-on experience and a first-hand understanding of the company’s stringent testing and manufacturing processes. With increased capacity and enhanced logistics for satellite antenna production, the Intellian Innovation Center can accommodate large manufacturing quantities of up to 1,000 antenna units per month and more efficient production of 1-meter and larger antennas including the Intellian w-Series, VSAT models and 2.4 meter c-band antennas.
“We are proud to announce that our new industry-leading Intellian Innovation Center has opened on schedule,” said Eric Sung, president, Intellian. “Continuing to design and manufacture all of our antenna systems in-house, the Intellian Innovation Center further enhances our mission to provide the best marine satellite antenna solutions for recreational and commercial vessels. It also demonstrates our commitment to expand our product lines and offerings.”
The Intellian Innovation Center will house the company’s quality control, engineering, product development, RF design, mechanical design engineering, production, purchasing and administration teams. The facility includes a field testing lab equipped with extensive window access to the sky for convenient antenna development and testing inside the building; four labs with new vibration machines that conduct shock and aging tests, along with equipment that tests technology against temperature, humidity, salt, mist and other environmental elements.
A near field antenna chamber for testing frequency patterns will also be added in the near future. In addition, the Intellian Innovation Center includes conference areas for training with access to installed product for ongoing assessment and allows partners to participate in technology tests; increased production lines with easy lodging and dislodging solutions; an innovative sliding rack for efficient storage and packing; as well as storage space for over 1,000 antenna systems. To enrich the work experience and encourage strong employee performance, the facility also features a cafeteria, gym and multiple lounges.
