SURI’s South Pacific Itinerary
At the beginning of February, SURI will be cruising in Antarctica. In mid February she will be departing Patagonia, which will mark the start of her journey across the Pacific, heading to South Pacific.
Easter Island – February and March – discovering the wonders of this mysterious island.
An opportunity to discover one of the most isolated islands on Earth. Also known as the ‘Navel of The World, the island is located in the Pacific Ocean and is known as one of earth’s sacred sites, thanks to its enigmatic giant stone busts, called Moai. Because of its fairly isolated location, Easter Island is best discovered aboard a vessel and even better aboard a luxury charter yacht, in the comfort of a five-star hotel.
Pitcairn and the Gambier Islands – March and April – explore one of the most remote inhabited islands.
This loosely grouped handful of tiny islands, are the last British colony in the South Pacific and most isolated British dependency. The only inhabited island is the Pitcairn Island, however the largest of the islands is the Henderson Island, also listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, boasting several endangered bird species. Oeno Island and Sandy Island are the most popular holiday spots for the locals, whereas Ducie Island, situated further from the rest of the islands, features numerous exotic birds.
French Polynesia – Cruise around the breath-taking Bora Bora and Moorea.
Situated halfway between California and Australia, French Polynesia is a enchanting jewel of the South Pacific, with a unique combination of lush tropical atolls and volcanic peaks rising from the lagoons. French Polynesian regions include the Society Islands with Bora Bora, Huahine, Maupiti, Raiatea in the Leeward Islands, and Moorea and Tahiti in the Windward Islands. Vast central archipelago of coral reefs can be found around Tuamotu Island. Furthermore there are the Marquesas Islands, Gambier Islands and Austral Islands.
Kiribati – Be amazed by this disappearing paradise before it is gone forever.
It is a beautiful place to visit onboard a yacht, featuring many atolls, which can be explored on bike or foot. The lagoons are simply stunning and you will be captured by the white sandy beaches and waving palm trees. People of Kiibati are usually very friendly and welcoming. Here you will also find the world’s largest marine protected area – the Phoenix Island Marine Protected Area – with gorgeous landscapes, sandy beaches and coral islands.
