Murray Ellis, National Boat Shows (NBS) Managing Director, has recently unveiled some exciting plans for the forthcoming London Boat Show, as well as PSP Southampton Boat Show.
Statement from NBS Managing Director, Murray Ellis:
London Boat Show & PSP Southampton Boat Show – successful global events the whole industry is proud of. That is our aim and we’ve got a strong vision for the continued improvement for the two immediate Shows and the future.
Our Shows continue to be ranked in the world’s top 10 boat shows and the last two events in September and January proved to be successful in terms of sales, with many of you performing beyond your expectation; indications that, with the improving economy, they continue to deliver. It is now the perfect opportunity to build on this upward trend.
To achieve success, National Boat Shows is making significant investment in both Shows. We’ll be improving the appeal, the excitement and the energy at both Shows; confirming them both as commercially successful and entertaining events, renowned as quality showcases, real social destinations, ranked alongside the best boat shows in the world and outstanding business opportunities for all companies no matter what size.
The PSP Southampton Boat Show will be promoted as a festival of boating, for all the family. Regular visitors plus newcomers and families will be able to enjoy an increased number of brand new attractions on the land as well as taking advantage of the chance to get afloat and experience being out on the water. Importantly we’ll be making it the best sales platform for you.
At London, we’ll be putting the ‘Show’ back in to the London Boat Show. We’ll inject the energy and excitement that’s been missing and create an amazing first impression. It will be a great event with more innovative, unique attractions that will entertain, inspire, surprise and enthuse visitors, ensuring they – and you – can’t fail to recommend the event to family and friends.
We’re not forgetting that the marine exhibitors are the stars of the Show. Our visitors always want to see more boats, products, brands and services – covering sail and power, large and small. Interest from marine companies is already high and with this new direction we’re confident of increased demand. Don’t forget the deadline for your early commitment discount is the end of May.
What else are we doing at London?
A 10 day Show; we’re bringing the preview day back. As indicated in the post show research, many of you want it as an additional selling day and we know the media want it to focus all the press activity on one day, so it’s back and the Show will open on the Friday.
The Show starts a week later so the dates for the 2015 event are Friday 9 to Sunday 18 January, which we know is positive for attendance.
A complementary Classic Car Show the first weekend. A brand new event – The London Classic Car Show – will run from Thursday 8 – Sunday 11 January 2015. Run by the organisers of Chris Evans’ CarFest and Top Gear Live, this Show will offer 15,000-20,000 discerning collectors, buyers and enthusiasts an unrivalled opportunity to experience rare and valuable cars from the past in an exciting event format; and it will offer you the chance to show off your products to a brand new, complementary audience.
Plus the Telegraph Cruise Show will also run the first weekend from Friday 9 – Sunday 11 January, adding to the excitement and helping to get our event off to a flying start.
Why are we doing this?
We want the Shows to be successful and offer you an unrivalled sales opportunity. We also want to protect the services the British Marine Federation offers. The profit from both the London Boat Show and the PSP Southampton Boat Show contributes significantly to the Federation, enabling us to deliver the services and support to our 1500 members and the industry as a whole. All of the planning has been done as a result of exhibitor and visitor feedback and has the full support of both the NBS and BMF Board.
We are committed to improving our Shows and will be announcing more plans over the next few months as we confirm them.
