Superyacht Kolaha, an ISA 630 and the flagship of the Ancona shipyard (ISA), stands out immediately for her extremely clean and streamlined presence, despite her healthy 63 metre length. (Article courtesy of ISA Yachts Italy, Images copyright ISA, translated from Italian).
The yacht build project involved the technical department at ISA, led by Anthony Lombards, and Marcello Maggi, who has collaborated the birth of the 630 yacht concept. The main objective was maximum efficiency of the hull without the need for complicated focusing on technology, but a great naval architecture.
Andrea Vallicelli, renowned designer of sailboats (including Riviera), has spoken on the external lines working in close touch with the office of the shipyard. The sleek profile conceals a significant beam of 12 meters. The white superstructure merges with the hull colour “Moon stone” and the profile angle of the aft decks creates with ample space for outdoor living.
The ISA 630 yacht’s sun deck, which houses a swimming pool in a position which ensures maximum privacy for guests on board, and the lower deck, which is located at the stern, a platform folding that transforms the area into a beach club.
Motor Yacht Kolaha is the owner’s third ISA yacht, from 40 meters to 47.5 to 63. The owner wanted a roomy interior and rich comfort with ample seating, a variety of materials combined between them and many original details. But above all, required to include elements that remember the sea have been grafted frescoes and sculptures of shells. In addition, next to dining room table, we have placed a particular sculpture of coral in which each is a member of the five horses in the family.
Interior designer Patrick Knowles: I started working in a company that operated with this material and I just kept the love of wood in all these years. It is versatile and allows me to express my creativity in many ways: it can be painted, varnished, filed, or bent polished. Not to mention the forms it can take. Whatever the style of an extension (ancient, contemporary, modern or minimalist) wood is the common denominator.
As for the interior of Kolaha, the owner wanted them to be treated by American designer Patrick Knowles, who gave a touch of internationality. The aim was to highlight the owner’s characteristic of the American Boat large space and comfort and at the same time, create an atmosphere which is found only in the Caribbean resort.
Knowls studied any décor focusing on the exaltation and pleasure of the five senses. First, the view: the colours blend to recreate a “nest” comfortable and reassuring. Hearing: All audio systems are of high quality and perfect isolation allows for smooth sailing. The feel: they have been chosen, for example, tissue specific to the floor of each environment, so that you can understand that point of the ship you are fingering the carpet under their feet.
M/Y Kolaha has Onyx Marine Automation which has created a system approved by Lloyd’s Register of integrated automation, which has 5 touch screens on which they are displays all the functions on board. In the pictures the salon on the main deck and outside can welcome 14 guests.
This vessel utilised 10 types of different marble: Alba clear, Emerald quartz, onyx, cappuccino onyx ivory, green water navy, green Bambolo, Laguna Green, white Thassos wild Chianti, various mosaics.
