Superyacht UK is thrilled to announce that several SYUK members were honored for their Refit & Design capabilities at the recent ISS Design & Leadership Awards 2013. The award ceremony took place at the Design Center of the Americas, during the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2013.
Pendennis, one of the UK’s leading shipyards, won the ‘Best Refit’ category for their work on motor yacht A2. This is her second win after taking the honours in the World Superyacht Awards earlier this year.
Toby Allies, Pendennis Sales and Marketing Director commented: “A2 was a challenging and exciting project for Pendennis and we were extremely pleased to be recognised at the ISS Awards. The extensive rebuild involved all the key trades at Pendennis and since delivery during the Pendennis Cup, A2 has explored the South West of France, crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean and East Coast and transited the Panama Canal to venture up to Alaska.”
Fellow SYUK member BMT Nigel Gee, were the structural engineers on this project and James Roy commented: “After winning the World Superyacht Awards earlier in 2013 the news that Pendennis has also scooped the ISS prize for A2 is further confirmation of the amazing work they did in transforming the yacht. BMT Nigel Gee are very proud to have supported Pendennis in their work on A2 and other projects which are currently in refit.”
Redman Whitely Dixon’s reputation as an inspirational British design team was once again acknowledged when they won tan award for their contribution to the interior design of motor yacht Cary Ali, who won ‘Best Power 24 – 40m’
The UK celebrated with several other companies winning notable accolades including; Rhodes Young Design, Reymond Langton and Laurent Giles. These awards signal a great and growing success for the UK Superyacht Industry and promise even more exciting things going into 2014.
