The ISS (International Superyacht Society) is proud to announce an unparalleled level of charitable contributions for Sail 4 Cancer, the recipient of ISS’s Annual U.K. Regatta, which took place this past weekend, June 7-9, 2013. With support from the ISS racing fleet, MTN Satellite Communications (through Pinmar Charities) as well as Airship, Sail 4 Cancer will receive a total of £5550 in donations.
“Kerry Pettitt at MTN said they couldn’t find a prize for the raffle, but instead donated £4,000 from their Pinmar Charities fund. The race itself generated £1050 through the generous contributions of sailors and Alan Bernardi of Airship added a further £500,” says Ken Hickling, ISS President and organizer of the annual event. “We have a fabulous event, now in its second year and quickly becoming a fixture in the calendar, and as an industry we come together for a noble cause. It’s the best of all worlds,” he continues.
The winner of the 2013 ISS U.K. Regatta is IconConnect, who also won the Ladies Race. Strong showings by BMT Nigel Gee, Laurent Giles and H2 Design added excitement. A total of 11 one-design boats raced, convening on Friday, June 7 in Hamble and racing Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9.
The Annual ISS U.K. Regatta is a unique way that we offer members, their clients and vendors a memorable event on the water. “We should all get on the water from time to time if for no other reason than to remind us of why we love this business as we do,” says Hickling.
