JFA Yachts has launched a second Long Island 85 sailing catamaran from its facilities in Concarneau, France. The shipyard has since added the carbon mast and boom to complete her appearance.
A weight of only 60 tonnes was achieved through the use of an aluminium composite hull combined with lightweight furnishings and fittings, which in turn benefit her sailing performance and manoeuvrability.
The exterior design was done by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group, who also contributed to her naval architecture. The interiors are finished in oak and walnut and come courtesy of Darnet Design.
To the aft, there is a cockpit complete with alfresco dining area, lounge, bar and sunpads. The flybridge hardtop is fitted with a removable isinglass surround to ensure that the area is usable even at times when the wind picks up.
Created with a draft of only 2.24m/7.35ft, the Long Island 85 will be able to access shallower anchorages in some of the world’s most beautiful and secluded cruising grounds. A pair of 380hp Yanmar 6LY3 diesel engines produce a cruising speed of 10 knots and a top speed of 12 knots.
Guest accommodation sleeps up to 9 guests and is split across 5 cabins: 1 main deck Master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. The crew accommodation is designed to sleep up to 2 staff, offering a tranquil sailing experience among a close group of friends and family.
