Justin Ferris joins Doyle Sails New Zealand

Doyle Sails has bolstered its internationally respected design team in Auckland, New Zealand, signing up renowned helmsman and trimmer Justin Ferris.

Justin has been involved with three Volvo Ocean Races, racing with Pirates of the Caribbean and Puma Ocean Racing as well as being involved with some of the worlds top racing programmes including Wild Oats XI, Speedboat, Rambler and Konica Minolta amongst others.

Justin began his sail-making career in the Bay of Island New Zealand in 1991 under the guidance of Simon Willis, and completed his sail-making apprenticeship before heading off to work in the US. On his return in 1999 Justin started what has led to a long relationship with Doyle Sails NZ working as service manager before heading off again to be involved with the VOR projects.

Now rejoining Doyle Sails New Zealand as a member of the design team under Richard Bouzaid, Justin brings 19 years of practical sail-making and sail-design experience as well as a wealth of top flight racing experience to provide the technical and practical knowledge needed to produce winning results. Justin will be a valuable asset to Doyle’s design team which provides design resources for New Zealand and Australia as well as for the worldwide superyacht market.

Justin will also be involved with the management of Doyle’s grand prix projects and special projects and also involved with the retail side of the business.
