One of Korea’s principal events in the marine leisure industry, the 2014 Korea International Boat Show (KIBS) is due to take place from June 12 to 15, at KINTEX of Gyeonggi Province in the Republic of Korea. Representing the only Korean boat show certified by the IFBSO, KIBS is steadily growing to be a key business stage for domestic and overseas marine leisure businesses as a clear channel of the marine leisure industry in Korea.
The 6th KIBS held in 2013 was a huge success. Occupying 28,500㎡ of exhibition space, 446 exhibitors and buyers from 33 countries participated in KIBS 2013 and together achieved over USD 150 million in contractual agreements. Public visitors were 33,398.(17,000 in 2012) KIBS is now acclaimed by overseas industry professionals and visitors as one of the 3 leading boat shows of Asia. Of special note, KIBS collaborated with other major Korean marine leisure companies in operating a South Korean pavilion at the 2013 Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in the Netherlands, and published the first edition of the Korea Marine Leisure Industry Guide Book in 2013. KIBS is also planning to dispatch a benchmarking delegation to the Miami International Boat Show with the cooperation and support of the U.S. Department of Commerce, which will propel the development of Korea’s marine leisure industry.
Moreover, KIBS was granted Trade Fair Certification by the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2014. 6 years KIBS has grown to become one of the 3 leading boat shows in Asia alongside Dubai (DIBS) and China (CIBS). The special focus during the first 2 days of KIBS was on B2B with a full program just for industry members. Participating in our match making program, 141 buyers from 33 countries attended 5,150 sales meetings. Together, the B2B and orders taken by our 305 exhibitors equated to USD 150 million in contractual agreements. It was a new record for KIBS!

The Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) was established to serve as a trade facilitation venue for both leading local and overseas companies. The 1st stage of this ultra-modern facility opened in April 2005 with an indoor exhibition area of 53,541 sq. metres, and the 2nd stage was completed in September 2011 with an additional 54,508 sq. metres of exhibition space. Now, with a combined exhibition area of 108,483 sq. metres, KINTEX is the largest exhibition and convention center in Korea and the 5th largest in Asia, placing it at the forefront of globalization and economic development in the region.
