Lantic Entertainment Systems, the leader in renowned integrated AV / IT systems for superyachts, has been selected to supply a complete, yacht-wide system for the new 37-metre sailing yacht Project FY17. At the moment under construction at Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand, the beautiful Project FY17 yacht is due to be delivered in early 2014. The installation is being undertaken by electrical integrator Electronic Navigation Ltd (ENL), based in Auckland.
Designed by Dubois Naval Architects with interiors by Design Unlimited, the luxury cruising yacht Project FY17 is having a full Lantic system providing entertainment both on and below deck, together with environmental control and WiFi access.
As well as giving access to a world of both stored and real-time satellite and terrestrial entertainment, the Lantic system will deliver full control of the on-board lighting, blinds and air conditioning. Internet access comes via both WiFi and using the boat’s own monitors and speakers. Each cabin or public zone is free to manage its own unique environment and make its own media choices.
Yet for all its sophistication it is the simplicity of the user interface that makes Lantic stand out. Simple menus and clear, unambiguous displays ensure that even first-time users can browse and select the content of their choice within moments of either signing into the app on their personal devices or picking up Lantic’s own remote control and viewing the on-screen options.
Owner welcomed at the Lantic facility
The owner took a keen interest in the design and build of his Lantic system, visiting the Lantic facility in Aarhus, Denmark on several occasions to discuss his requirements and observe his system take shape. Certain custom modifications were introduced, including the redesign of the cabin control keypad to work alongside the Vimar control panels and additional engineering to integrate the Cruise Air air-conditioning with the Lantic system. The Lantic team applied its usual expertise to the challenges and solutions were quickly devised and implemented.
“This installation features all our latest technological developments,” said Lantic’s Peter Bouman. “Two-way iPad/iPhone streaming, third generation cabin controls, HD streaming hardware and of course the most recent enhancements to our user interface are all included. And naturally the yacht’s satcomms system will download our software upgrades the moment they are released to ensure ongoing compatibility with AV/IT standards as they evolve and change.”
Electronic Navigation Ltd is also installing the navigation and communications packages.
