Luxury mega yacht Retro 70.70m (232’) concept is the latest design to come from Piet Bernardo Behage, founder of PB Behage Yacht Designer. Motor yacht Retro 70.70m design is a unique and timeless vessel, representing probably the most exciting concept for a super yacht.
PB Behage began to work on some ideas that combined the beauty of classic vessels with the amenities found on modern yachts and believes that the answer to achieving a unique and timeless yacht can be found as well in the styling of classic yachts. The Retro superyacht design process began with collecting ideas for the hull form and interior layout. To ensure that the hull would perform well, PB Behage conducted tank experiments and concluded that a wide hull with a beam of minimal 10.85m would be needed to ensure the level of stability that he wanted to achieve. With a highly stylized vision takes the concept of minimalism and applies it in a way that is elegant, chic and contemporary look.
PB Behage also focused his attention on reducing the overall weight of the vessel, creating a distinct interior with beautiful, high quality furniture. He wanted to create a feeling of space on each deck level that has been achieved by having a clear ceiling height of 2.3m (7.6 feet) inside. It was important too that the design allows an easy access to all areas of the vessel for improved maintenance and, which is important for long-range ocean cruisers. Every deck zone can easily be adapted to suit the mood and atmosphere of the moment.
Another key feature is the inclusion of a fresh water sprinkler system to minimise the build-up of sea salt on the hull. This will keep the hull clean and fresh.
Retro 70.70m yacht concept has an interior that complements the exterior in every way. PB Behage opted to finish the floors in marble and parquet, with under floor heating and carefully uses of wood in limited quantity, to attain contrast in colour and texture. The interior can accommodate up to 10 guests across five cabins, with the option of having additional two cabins for the owner’s private staff or children or as spare for four more guests.
Following the conceptual philosophy for the yacht, owner and guest spaces shall be arranged, laid out, decorated and fitted out fully in accordance with the owner’s wishes and requirements. The standard of finish and quality shall be of the highest quality with the inclusion of novel rare elements and details. The master stateroom, which benefits from the full beam on the main deck, includes library and office, large en suite bathroom with walk-in wardrobe, Jacuzzi and steam shower. Two double and two twin guest cabins are situated on the lower deck. Each room offers exceptional space with plenty of storage and large wardrobes that are concealed within the design. The crew quarters are kept separate from the owner and guest areas and are located forward on the lower deck, all with main casing to main deck. This crew quarter is also connected by the bilge area with the engine room office. This sector is watertight divided, which also allows for easy reach and maintenance of systems.
Luxury yacht Retro concept is able to deliver a range in excess of 5.300 nautical miles when cruising at 12.8 knots, which is possible thanks to a hybrid propulsion system that uses three engines what will give a higher level of fuel efficiency. An extremely clean spacious side decks facilitates, not only good visibility from the wheelhouse as well as around the whole ship and just as important is that it is also facilitating maintenance. The fully welded steel hull and aluminium superstructure is fully compliant with current regulations, bathing platform concealed in hull. Should the client wish, the aft main deck can be altered to incorporate a touch-and-go helipad, which will undoubtedly make Retro yacht concept an exciting and unique realistic super yacht for long distance voyages.
