Taken place in the lovely Italian yacht charter destination – Porto Cervo in Sardinia in June 2013, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta was marked by another victory of the unstoppable charter yacht Salperton IV. Doyle-powered luxury sailing yacht Salperton IV placed first overall, as well as ‘Best Classified Dubois Yacht’ and ‘Best Classified Fitzroy Yacht’.
There were 21 yachts of 24m+ taking part in the regatta, which was raced to the International Superyacht Rule (ISYR). Representing the Doyle team, Peter Grimm (FLL, USA) was on board on charter yacht P2, Mario Giattino (Italy) and Matt Bridge (NZ) on charter yacht Bliss and Quinny Houry (Palma) on Salperton.
The event began with light winds on day one, followed by stronger winds on day two when Salperton yacht took first place in Class B. Day three saw Salperton claim overall victory, and the Fitzroy Race Day Cup, just ahead of superyacht Bliss who came in second. Bliss was using their new A2 from Doyle for the first time and it did not disappoint, helping her to reach 16.5knots in 26-27 knots of breeze.
Day four saw racing abandoned due to light winds, meaning the results for the first three races stood and that charter yacht Salperton took first place overall.
