German superyacht builders Lürssen have begun the Monaco Yacht Show 2018 with the signing of a 54m/177ft luxury yacht Project MOON SAND also known as Project 13800 for an experienced Asian client.
Both the interior and exterior styling has been created by Bannenberg & Rowell Design and is scheduled for delivery in spring 2021. The modern design is described as ‘masculine but elegant’ and features a series of strong horizontal lines with gentle curves. Guests have access to four decks and the exteriors are optimised for outdoor living and dining in the sunshine, while the interiors are custom-furnished by Pollaro.
“We are really excited to rekindle our long-standing relationship with Lürssen to work on the first interior and exterior collaboration since Coral Island in 1994,” stated Dickie Bannenberg. “Project 13800 marks an important step into a new market segment for both Bannenberg & Rowell and Lürssen and we greatly look forward to her launch in spring 2021”.
In addition to signing the contract for PROJECT MOON SAND, Lürssen presented a new book named ‘The Concept Collection’ featuring a series of yacht designs for a 62m/203ft luxury yacht, including nine designs from the finalists of the 2018 Young Designer of the Year Award. All designers received the same design brief with attention to be paid to guest and crew spaces with the same technical requirements and engine layout for each.
“We are pleasantly surprised at the quality and innovation of their work,” Lürssen stated. “As we continue our journey of building yachts to meet market demands, we hope that the client will be as inspired as we have been by the wonderful talent of these young designers to build your dream Lürssen, regardless of whether it is 55 or 155m.”
