The leading German builder Lurssen represents the latest addition to the fast expanding line-up of prestigious superyacht manufacturers, which are expected to attend this year’s Singapore Yacht Show. The shipyard, which has launched 50 superyachts, comprising 10 in excess of 100m, has a strong focus on the east and is looking to tap into the region’s increasing affluence and appetite for marine leisure activities.
“Lürssen has always been very active in Asia, not only with our yachting but also with our navy business. We feel that now the Singapore Yacht Show has developed into a very positive and busy event that gives us the opportunity to further enhance our activities in Asia,” commented Sales Director Michael Breman.
This is set to be a busy year for Lürssen, as it will be delivering three superyachts between 66m and 105m. The company joins a host of renowned superyacht builders that will be exhibiting at this year’s Singapore Yacht Show, including Alloy Yachts, Heesen Yachts, Perini Navi, Palmer Johnson, Gulf Craft and Rossinavi.
With an ever-growing number of vessels and companies on display, and Sunseeker Asia dubbing last year’s event “by far the best show in Asia”, there is a distinct buzz for the 2014 edition, which takes place 10 to 13 April at the ONE°15 Marina Club, Sentosa Cove.
Singapore is home to an international business-focused population, ranking third highest city in the world for resident multi-millionaires, according to a 2013 WealthInsight report. It is also the burgeoning Asian wealth management epicenter, with total assets of S$1.4 trillion under management with 500 licensed players in the city-state.
As a result, the appetite for luxury goods in Singapore has never been stronger, and the Yacht Show has shown dramatic growth reflecting the desire for leisure pursuits befitting the affluent cosmopolitan locals. Over 11,000 unique visitors registered for the 2013 Singapore Yacht Show, with more than 70 vessels (22 over 20m) and 2,513m2 of exhibition space on display representing 100 luxury brands.
“We are delighted to welcome Lürssen along with the other key industry players to this year’s edition of the show. It goes to show that the opportunities in Asia are real and not just rhetoric,” says Singapore Yacht Show Managing Director Andy Treadwell.
