Italian shipyard Lusben have announced the completion of the recent refit of luxury explorer yacht AUDACE. The custom yacht was first launched in 2019 by Cantiere delle Marche, after commission from the late Andrea Merloni, former president of Fineldo and Indesit. After spending a season onboard, the owner decided to upgrade the yacht to even better fit his needs and to be better suited to year-round living. After Mr. Merloni’s passing, his family along with the shipyard and designers, decided to complete the refit as a tribute to his memory.
The refit was designed by Andrea Pezzini, close collaborater of Merloni and CEO of Floating Life, and architect Mauro Sculli. The most major change to the custom yacht is an increase of length from 42m to 46.6m. The stern is now 2.4m longer, with the platform having undergone a total makeover with new teak decking. A robotic telescopic gangway has also been installed, which can extend 8m. Forward, the bow has been lengthened by 2.2m. With the new, more aerodynamic bow, as well as strengthening of generators, the yachts maximum speed has increased from 15.8 knots to 17 knots, with the added bonus of a 20% consumption reduction.
There have also been some substantial interior modifications, with two elevators installed to easily facilitate movements and service between decks. Electrical systems have also been upgraded, along with the owner deck and upper deck floors being overhauled and now able to be heated. The owner’s deck has also received all new furnishings and colour palette, now with a dark, sophisticated theme.
Accommodation is for 10 guests over 5 luxurious cabins. The Owner suite is located on the dedicated Owners deck, and boasts a private deck, jacuzzi and salon. The remaining accommodation is spread over the main deck and lower deck, and consists of 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins, allowing for a variety of family and friend group sizes aboard this beautiful yacht.
