On the 11thof June the crew of superyacht SLIPSTREAM were presented with the Yachts du Coeur trophy from the ECO-MER association for their outstanding assistance in organising and transporting aid to those affected by the 2017 hurricane season in the Caribbean.
In collaboration with ECO-MER and YachtAid Global, M/Y SLIPSTREAM collected donations from charitable events from Palma, Mallorca in the Balearic Islands all the way along the French Riviera to Antibes. Afterwards, the 60m/197ft superyacht then crossed the Atlantic to deliver 38²m of aid, which included carpentry tools and building materials, to the hurricane-hit Caribbean islands. Once in Dominica, YachtAid Global distributed the aid to those most in need before the crew headed to Sint Maarten to take part in rebuilding projects.
Artist Sylvie Wohlgemuth designed the trophy in the image of Ceres, goddess of nature and abundance, to emphasise attention to the natural environment. The trophy was presented by Commandant Olivier Troy representing the French Royal Navy on the 11th of June aboard luxury yacht SLIPSTREAM in Cannes.
Also in attendance for the ceremony was the Worldwide Yachting Association (MYBA), the Professional Yachting Association (PYA), veterans of the French Royal Navy, the Association de Marins et Marins Anciens Combattants de Cannes (AMMAC Cannes) and officials from the city of Cannes.
