Motivated by a classic yacht design of the 1930’s, the luxury motor yacht RossoMare 115 is a spectacular family vessel, boasting a canoe stern, along with a classic, timeless shape as well as a strong traditional bow. RossoMare 115 superyacht is designed and engineered by the renowned Dutch design studio, Vripack.
A classical, timeless canoe stern design
The canoe stern design reduces space and the flow of water at the stern underneath the RossoMare 115 yacht, affecting the vessel’s performance. In the RossoMare design a beautiful canoe stern design with hardly any loss of space has been achieved. The flow of water underneath the yacht was solved by Vripack’s engineers. The vessel performs as if it is not a canoe stern.
A traditional bow design
In the design of the bow it was important to reflect a 1930’s look and feel and find the right balance between bow and stern. The RossoMare 115 yacht has a bow with a strong flare designed in a well-balanced, beautiful line.
A typical family owned SuperYacht
The RossoMare 115 is a family yacht, primarily designed for the owner and his family/friends. The owner experiences her as his own vessel, is coming home and feeling at home. The crew is there to assist, when needed. Through all stages in the design and engineering the family yacht definition was taken in to consideration resulting in a coming home yacht with places and spaces to make her highly comfortable and easy to navigate with maximum attention to optimize the comfort of the yacht at anchor.
Most importantly the interior had to be designed away from the typical naval architect designs, which seem to be masters of luxury and glamour. In the RossoMare 115 yacht’s interior a feeling of home experience is most important. Trying to close the gap between one’s feeling at home and his feeling on board. It is like going to one’s beach house, however, with more flexibility and privacy. In matching the classical exterior design inspired by the 1930’s the interior design had to follow with an ‘art deco’ twinkle. An amazing outcome without having consulted any known naval interior architect has been reached. Vripack’s in-house interior designer and the Owner’s interior designer ‘on land’ have worked closely together in achieving the ‘feeling at home’ experience.
No visible tenders and toys
Vripack were obliged to store tenders and toys out of sight. No cranes, tenders and toys on any deck outside. The deck spaces outside need to be entirely at the disposal of the owner and his family. They should not be sitting or sunbathing between tenders or toys.
Vripack has succeeded in this no-compromise instruction superbly.
A side door garage for tender and toys
It is very unusual to see a side door garage on a 115 feet SuperYacht. The RossoMare 115 demonstrates it is possible and even very practical to have a tender and two jet ski’s stowed in a side door garage on the lower deck. As the side door opens, it can even be used as a swimming platform. In addition the rescue tender is also stored out of sight in the front of the main deck.
A swimming platform at the stern
With a canoe stern one must swallow the swimming platform. The RossoMare 115 superyacht has both: canoe stern and swimming platform. A door at the stern will open and creates the platform, which can be accessed via the lower deck corridor. When the vessel is moored with its stern to the quay the stern door can be opened and used by the crew for deliveries, avoiding the main deck entrance.
Twin engine room with walkthrough corridor
Each of the two main engines have their own engine room with in the middle a walk through corridor. This construction allows the crew to reach all spaces on the lower deck without having to go via the maindeck. Besides deliveries can be taken on board directly to the lower deck.
No staircases outside, but a central in-door staircase design
Another challenge given by the Owner to Vripack was to design the yacht without any outside staircases. This has resulted in a unique, fabulous staircase design in the middle of the RossoMare 115 yacht. The staircases column goes from the lower deck to the sun deck giving access on each deck.
A Owner stateroom on 1st deck with huge aft-deck
As a family yacht it was important to give the Owner the best place on board, including privacy. A typical owner stateroom on yachts in the 115ft range is situated in the front on the main deck. Vripack was instructed to design the owner stateroom, with wardrobe, office and bathroom on the 1st deck behind the wheelhouse and keep the aft-deck completely free as the Owner’s terrace and relax place.
Construction to promote owner’s skills in navigation
In the engineering and choice of materials and equipment Vripack were instructed to design and engineer everything in such a way that the Owner, as he wanted, would have maximum comfort and confidence in navigating the RossoMare 115 yacht. As during navigation people often use the sundeck an extra navigation station will stay at the Owner’s disposal, whenever he wants to navigate, but still be amongst his family and friends.
Free choice of shipyard (any where)
In a standard yacht design procedure an Initial Design Package (IDP) is made. Thereafter the shipyard takes over. Before the yacht can be build the shipyard has still to carry out all the engineering work, for which they need to employ sub-contractors.
There are various disadvantages in this route. First of all one may expect problems with the designer and the shipyard, because they will argue that certain discrepancies is not their fault, leaving the owner in the middle of arguments, discussions and maybe even extra expenses. If the shipyard is given the order based on an IDP and the shipyard’s tender offer the owner is loosing control over the actual engineering process. The shipyard is also given too much room to play with, which may affect the quality. Last but not least the yacht can only be built by one shipyard, so if an owner wants the same model, he has to wait till there is space available and besides the owner is bound by the place where the shipyard is situated.
In the RossoMare 115 yacht concept the ship is designed and engineered independently from any shipyard, which means more than one ship can be built at the same time and the owner has freedom of choice where he wants his yacht to be build. As the building might already be a lifestyle experience the owner may want to have his yacht built not to far away from where he lives.
Vripack will design and engineer the luxury yacht RossoMare 115 in accordance with instructions from the owner to such a stage that all design and engineering work is ready to start building the vessel.
Guaranteed production quality in accordance with Vripack’s detailed plans are warranted, because all details, drawings and specification are provided by Vripack.
