The currently running Monaco Yacht Show 2015 is hosting some of luxury vessels fitted out with the MTU engines. These include the 60-metre Benetti FB255 mega yacht FORMOSA with twin MTU 12V 4000 M53 engines, the 50-metre Heesen motor yacht ANN G with twin MTU 16V 4000 units, as well as the 42-metre Mondomarine superyacht SERENITY with twin MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines.
At the event, Rolls-Royce is presenting MTU propulsion systems and automation products for superyachts on Stand QC9 on the Quai Chicane, with a model of an MTU Type 20V 4000 M93 engine combined with an electric motor in a hybrid configuration on display. Visitors to the show can find out all about a great variety of drive modes from silent mode through to electric mode, as well as the numerous specially co-ordinated customer service and support options in the Premium Yacht Service Lounge.
MTU supplies propulsion systems and complete system engineering solutions for luxury yachts from a single source, the interfaces of which have been engineered to deliver excellent performance. The individually designed MTU drive systems are based on the powerful and low-emission Series 2000, 4000, 1163 and 8000 diesel engines with power outputs right up to 10,000 kW. In addition to diesel-mechanical and diesel-electric propulsion systems, MTU is also presenting bespoke E-Drive system solutions incorporating diesel engines and electric motors, energy storage batteries, power electronics, control systems and gearboxes.
“For yacht owners, that means more economy and comfort due to lower fuel consumption, less noise and reduced vibration,” said Nadine Buhmann, Head of Marine and Offshore Business at MTU. The MTU active noise reduction solutions for yachts is also on show in Monaco.
