88m/290ft expedition yacht OLIVIA O has been delivered and is now cruising the Mediterranean following the successful completion of her sea trials among the Norwegian fjords in August, where she reached a top speed of 16.6 knots.
The highly secretive project had no concept renderings available to the public when construction began in 2016 and few details have been revealed about her on board amenities or interiors. However, the main deck aft is fitted with a large swimming pool and a helipad is placed on the extended aft bridge deck behind the wheelhouse.
Designed in conjunction with Espen Oeino, who produced her exterior styling, M/Y OLIVIA O sports an innovative X-bow inspired by the bows of ancient Viking ships that increases stability and reduces drag and spray on deck for high performance even in the roughest seas.
The X-bow originated from Ulstein in 2005 and has proven effective on its other vessels that daily undergo the rough North Sea conditions, and now more than 100 boats have been constructed with this bow-type.
OLIVIA O represents the first foray into luxury yachts for Norway-based Ulstein shipyard, who have been constructing commercial craft since 1917.
