Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design has revealed details on its largest project to date – a 78m/256ft sailing yacht from Project MM78.
Research and development took place over several months to create an innovative sailing yacht that incorporates the owner’s wish to have 360° views from the cockpit without the elevation of a flybridge.
MM78 will feature fully automated sailing systems that ensure that a minimal human contact is required with load-bearing sheets and the lifting keel will ensure that guests can approach closer to the shoreline.
Inside, the accommodation layout consists of 5 cabins and provides for a crew of 14. One of the outstanding features of the MM78 design is the Owner’s aft apartment, which comes complete with its own salon and dining area to cover a total area of 150m². The apartment directly accesses the extensive aft swim platform and the folding bulwarks produce a total of 100m² of outdoor lounging space.
“This is a ground-breaking concept and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to develop this design for the client. The design progressed through several evolutionary stages and now, with the final arrangement confirmed, we’re pleased to share news of this project.”

The full-beam main salon and Owner’s suite make use of floor-to-ceiling hull windows to allow guests extensive views of the natural surroundings and a skylight floods the interior with natural light for comfortable living.
The amidships lazarette layout allows for improved crew access and yacht operations and guest facilities include a 7.5m foredeck swimming pool, spa facilities and a gym.
