The Portals Nautical Weekend, held in amazing Mallorca, starts in a couple of weeks. With around 25 exhibitors supposed to welcome visitors this year, the sixty floating moorings are all taken, and the preparations for the shore side exhibition are well underway.
Sandwiched between them, and the fine display of motor and sail yachts for sale and charter out on the dock, is the whole row of well known retail outlets that Puerto Portals has become famous for, including many restaurants, bars and boutiques….In fact, something for every taste, and some special menus and prices will be on offer!
Apart from having all the top branded yachts, accessories, chandlery tenders and toys on display, the organisers have gone out of their way to make this a generally entertaining event. There will be a display of classic cars and Harley Davidson motorbikes for the petrol heads. And on Sunday (27th) evening there will be a boat parade after dusk with many of the exhibition boats taking part. These will leave their moorings one by one, and turn around out in the entrance of the harbor accompanied by music, lights and some descriptive narrative over the public address system.
The locally based media are playing their full part in entertaining visitors and keeping the event lively. Spain´s nationally networked Spectrum FM English Radio will be there playing the best music. Mallorca Today TV and its sister company Nautical TV Europe will be filming yachts, interviewing visitors and exhibitors, and putting up the footage on screens at the event in real time. The Islander, Mallorca´s own 15-year-old yachting magazine who are now in partnership with NTVE, will be providing the media and information desks, as well as reporting on the whole event.
