An amazing line-up of presenters has been unveiled for the inaugural Marina Investment Seminar. The event is set to be held in the popular Australia yacht charter destination – Sydney on October 2, 2014.
MIA President Andrew Chapman said the calibre and experience of the Seminar presenters was testimony to the significance of the event. “The marina industry in Australia alone generates $1.4b in direct gross revenues per annum through 347 marinas and this excludes the value of the growing residential and commercial components of marina investment. The six Seminar speakers have extensive industry experience across the spheres of development and ownership; valuations, debt funding, the legal framework and transaction advisory services. It is note-worthy that the Seminar is attracting interest from as far afield as the USA and across Asia.”
Scott Mesley will lead the session on debt funding. Scott is a Partner in KPMG’s Debt Advisory team that provides advice in relation to capital management strategies, benchmarking, funding options, debt structuring/restructuring and arranging. Scott has over 17 years of corporate finance and advisory experience, including in the areas of financial due diligence, valuations, financial modelling, transfer pricing, infrastructure project advisory, privatisations, restructuring and debt advisory.
Following a global industry assessment from UK based marina consultant Mick Bettesworth, the Australian environment will be analysed by Darren Vaux, director and joint owner of Empire Marina Bobbin Head in Sydney. Darren has more than 25 years of experience in major property development and investment with particular expertise in planning, stakeholder engagement and leasehold tenure in the marine industry.
Other presenters are Matthew McCarron, a partner within KPMG’s Private Enterprise practice with more than 15 years’ experience providing a diverse range of advisory services to business owners. Mike Cullanan who is a Partner and Director of Rankin Ellison Lawyers with 34 years legal experience primarily focused on corporate and commercial law. Greg Thomson who is a Divisional Director of Frank Knight Valuations with over 23 years’ experience in the valuation industry with a significant focus on marina valuation.
