Based on an extensive selection and tender process led by Waterfront Auckland, Marina Projects Ltd the UK marina and waterfront consultancy specialist has been awarded a contract for a Masterplan Study to optimise Westhaven Marina in Auckland, New Zealand.
Westhaven Marina is one of the largest marinas in the southern hemisphere with some 1,900 berths. The study will focus on the configuration of the Westhaven Marina water-space accommodating both current and future boating trends. The water space masterplan must ensure that Westhaven Marina maintains an international level of service provision and will place an emphasis on marina functionality, utilisation of the available water-space and the optimisation of commercial yields.
To deliver the study, Marina Projects will work with Mott MacDonald. Marina Projects and Mott MacDonald have already worked together extensively in Hong Kong and other areas of the Asia Pacific region as part of an existing collaboration agreement.
Marina Projects’ wealth of international experience in marina design and development with specialist knowledge of marina business planning brings an added dimension to the project. Marina Projects’ close links with the marine leisure industry worldwide and experience of detailed engagement with stakeholders will ensure that Westhaven Marina is positioned as a world class marina.
Marina Projects’ Director Mike Ward said, “We are delighted to have been selected by Waterfront Auckland for this study and our team are already undertaking preparatory work in advance of a visit in mid-January. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in such a prestigious project and we look forward to further expanding our activities in the region.”
