The Marine Industry Cares Foundation has organised the 4th annual Spin-A-Thon, due to be held this Friday, 20th April at Esplanade Park in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Two local organisations will be supported: the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Centre and Kids in Distress.
The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) is an organization that serves more than 10,000 children with special health care needs in Broward County, and Kids In Distress (KID) an agency that works in South Florida to prevent child abuse, preserve the family, and treat children who have been abused and neglected.
Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler will kick off this year’s Spin-A-Thon, and local city commissioners will be there to lend their support. On hand throughout the day teams will be energized by beats from local DJ, water stations will keep each spinner hydrated, and Paul Castronovo from the Paul and Young Ron Show will be there to help keep the momentum going.
Sixty teams will participate in this year’s event, all with the hopes of doubling last year’s goal of $100,000. Individuals can make donations to an individual rider, join a team, or sign up a team at the Marine Industry Cares website.
Teams will ride continuously from 1-7pm, and are encouraged to decorate their bike and have a team theme. This year’s major sponsors include HCC medical insurance services and IMG (International Medical Group).
A networking party will begin at 6pm, local restaurant sponsors include Delaware Chicken Farm, Le Macaron, Marando Farms, Paneretos Restaurant, Slackers, and the bar will be provided by Waxy O’Connor’s.
The Spin-A-Thon will take place on April 20, 2012, rain or shine, at Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale. Registration begins at noon and spinning will take place from 1-7pm.
