Providing a unique opportunity to win amazing prizes, the MDL Marinas’ photo competition 2012 now comes with four fantastic new video categories as well as an under-16s photography competition, along with the coveted best photograph.
MDL Marinas is looking for videos and photographs that capture some time spent in and around its marinas in the UK and Europe and one can enter photographs taken from 1st September 2011 up to and including 5th August 2012. These may be fast-paced action shots or footage out on the water, people relaxing around the marinas, enjoying their boats, or simply capturing an unusual view from around the marina.
The four new video categories are:
– Calm and Tranquil
– Stormy Weather
– Approaches
– Wildlife
Prizes for the competitions include a workshop session with a leading studio photographer from PhotoRed, based at Shamrock Quay, alongside top photography equipment, accessories and tickets to the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2012.
What’s more, the winning images and videos will be showcased on MDL’s waterfront stand at this year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show.
Last year’s photography competition was won by Christopher Corton, a berth holder at Shamrock Quay – with a stunning image of a sunset across Torquay Marina – this year’s competition will look at capturing, both in images and video, what really makes each of MDL’s 21 marinas a truly unique destination – through the eyes of people who experience the marinas for themselves.
Dean Smith, Marketing Director at MDL Marinas, commented: “We’re really excited to be offering the new categories in this year’s competition; it’s great to be able to include videos, as well as our new photo competition for under-16s.
“Video adds a new dimension to the way we look at things – and although we’re still keen to receive people’s best photographs, we’d also like to see how video takes people’s imaginations too.
“The summer is the perfect time to get out and about on the water and to enjoy time with family and friends – it’s wonderful for us to see the experiences of our berth holders and visitors to the marinas through the various photo and video portrayals, which really encapsulate what marina life is all about.”
To enter this exciting competition it is simply advised to visit the MDL Marinas’ website to upload the required entries – which should be taken at any one of MDL’s 21 marinas or boatyards in the UK, Spain or Italy, their approaches or immediate surroundings. All entries must be received by midnight on Sunday 5th August.
