Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority responsible for regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in the breath-taking Dubai yacht holiday location, recently met with representatives of other leading authorities in Dubai’s maritime sector. The agenda of the meeting was to review the latest updates as well as developments in the local maritime sector and discuss the ways in order to support the efforts of the Maritime Operations Department according to the highest standards of professional safety and best practices.
Representatives from the DP World – UAE and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Customs, and Dubai Fishermen Co-operative Association were invited to the gathering. Participants discussed various aspects of the local maritime sector, including its strategic goals to foster Dubai’s leadership as a pioneering international maritime center.
Amer Ali, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime City Authority, noted that the Authority is keen to enhance active communication channels with its strategic partners in governmental, commercial and private organizations within the local maritime sector in order to improve maritime operational authorities and boost maritime services. It will provide a fundamental organizational framework to achieve integration of maritime safety, safe navigation and operational efficiency along Dubai’s coastline. He appealed the concerned parties to continue and nurture their efforts to create a maritime environment capable of responding effectively to market changes, adapt to growing tendencies, and attract regional and global investors.
Ali added: “We intend to organize meetings with our strategic partners on a regular basis, as we believe that joint efforts are vital to realize our aspirations to organize, develop and boost elements of local maritime collaboration, and create a secure and revived maritime sector. We are poised to make a positive change in Dubai’s maritime industry, by providing maritime licensing services and developing organizational regulations and modern legislations to guarantee applying the best practices that will enhance levels of maritime safety and boost efficient investment opportunities in a highly-competitive maritime sector.”
The meeting was attended by H.E. Major General Mohammed Saeed Al Murri, President of Dubai Fishermen Cooperative Association; Mohammed Al Mualem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Dubai Ports World – UAE; Abdullah Al Khaja, CEO, Dubai Customs; Abdullah Bin Dumethan, Manager of Navigation Routes Department, Dubai Ports World; Captain Hassan Al Suwaidi, Harbour Master of Port Rashid and Director of Marine Department, DP World; Khalifah Sultan Mohammed Bin Salman, Manager, Al Hamriya Port Department; Ghanem Al Abbar, Vice President, Al Hamriya Port; Hussain Khan Saheb, Manager of Maritime Transport Department, RTA; and Saeed Hamid Al Zarri, Manager of Commercial Relations, Rashid Port and Al Hamriya Port. Aside from Amer Ali, the DMCA was represented by Ali Al Dabbous, Executive Director of Operations; Mohammed Al Bastaki, Manager of Maritime Operations Department; Adel Klantar, Director – Registration and Licensing; Faek Masalmah, Senior Manager of Technical Systems and Standards; and Khamees Weld Ghamil, Senior Manager of Maritime Traffic.
