At an impressive 123m/404ft, mega yacht AL LUSAIL is a spectacular sight that draws attention wherever she goes, and this February she has been spotted cruising along the coast of Malta within the charter grounds of the Mediterranean.
Launched by Lurssen in 2016, her exterior styling is the work of H2 Yacht Design and March & White designed her interior appearance. Her broad beam is 20m/66ft wide and her draft is 5.5m/18ft deep, creating a voluminous interior for amenities which include a cinema, beach club, beauty salon and a swimming pool. Her diesel engines give her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 15 knots.
The island of Malta is located 80 kilometres south of Italy and is ideal to incorporate into a charter visiting the islands of Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily.
The capital city of Valletta is a cultural delight where Italian, French and British culture influences the architecture and visitors can view the masterpieces of Caravaggio at St. John’s co-Cathedral and museum. Walk the halls of the forts and bastions before viewing the modern art galleries, then rest in the main square with drinks in the cafes or a local delicacy from one of the restaurants.
There are plenty of dive sites to suit complete beginners through to the experienced, offering caves and wrecks for an exciting afternoon in clear seas.
Malta is a year-round destination that is best visited in the spring and autumn when temperatures are warm and more stable.
