The megayacht Silver Zwei holds some great distinctions including being the world’s fastest conventionally powered motor yacht, and it is also the longest yacht made from all aluminum measuring in at 73 m (240 ft.). This super efficient M/Y SILVER ZWEI is now also attempting to beat her own speed, range and fuel economy records set on her maiden voyage.
The Silver Zwei was custom built for Guido Krass, a German entrepreneur and industrialist, by Australian yacht builder Hanseatic Marine. The shipyard is located 30 kilometers south of the city of Perth in the Australian Marine Complex at Cockburn Sound and has frequently been called one of the absolute best marine facilities in the entire world. Guido Krass’ vision of a green yacht, Espen Oeino Design , all-aluminum, high speed, long range and low fuel consumption was realised at the yachts launch in September 2009.
The extremely agile light weight, aluminum Superyacht Silver Zwei can attain a top speed of 27 knots. With her very low fuel consumption of around 400 litres/h averaging 18-19 knots, she can cover over 4,500 nautical miles. The craftsmanship of this amazing vessel is not only measured by performance and figures, but also in her beautiful design, comfortable accommodation, reliability, facilities and quality workmanship.
While on her maiden voyage from the shipyard in Perth, Australia to Dubai in October 2009, the Superyacht travelled the 5,103 NM distance in just under 12 days averaging a remarkable speed of 18.26 knots with a mean fuel consumption of around 18 litres per nautical mile.
The luxury motor yacht SILVER ZWEI is now on her way to Singapore and will again attempt to beat her own speed, range and fuel economy records.
M/Y SILVER ZWEI’s intended course will follow the Pakistan and Indian Coastline to avoid shipping lanes and potential pirate encounters. They will then continue South below Southern India and Sri Lanka then change to a westerly course to head towards Sumatra on the Northern tip of the Indonesian Island. Finally, they will head through the Malacca Straits to Singapore, with an estimated arrival date of the 17th of June 2010.
The attempt to beat their existing records will be subject to weather however we wish them well and look forward to bringing you updates on the Superyacht Silver Zwei voyage!
