Friday, June 6, 2014, saw the renowned Croatian superyacht refit facility, NCP-Repair Shipyard Šibenik Ltd., join the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group as its eleventh member.
The International Council of Marine Industry Associations’ (ICOMIA) Superyacht Refit Group represents quality refit, repair and maintenance yards. Working towards maintaining and improving global superyacht quality, the Refit Group follows professional working standards and specified environmental practices.
Founded in 1905 as a central Austro-Hungarian naval base, the Refit Shipyard of Šibenik developed its services and facilities through maintenance of demanding navy fleets. In 2004, the yard was privatised by the Nautical Centre Prgin (NCP) with the aim of becoming the foremost refit centre for yachts and commercial vessels on the eastern side of the Mediterranean.
“I am very pleased to welcome NCP-Repair Shipyard Šibenik Ltd into the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group” said ICOMIA Secretary General Tony Rice. “This important refit destination and industry should play a strong part in the Refit Group’s future activities and ensure the Group remains at the forefront of quality refit, repair and maintenance yard representation.”
“We are honored about our membership” said NCP. “To every potential client – megayacht Owner – our membership in ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group guarantees s quality and the same standard of services as in another world’s most prestigious refit shipyards to overhaul megayachts.”
“This is certainly the global recognition of our work. We privatized the state owned shipyard of Šibenik in 2004 with the aim of becoming the foremost refit centre for yachts and commercial vessels on the eastern side of the Mediterranean. The facility has enormous potential for the further development. In the past 10 years me made great efforts at the international and domestic level to affirm the growing infrastructure and services for mega yachts in Croatia. We believe that our membership in ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group will enable us to act on solving the restrictive factors for the development of the market for mega yachts in Croatia.”
