New England Boatworks Inc has announced the launch of 28.7m/94ft all-aluminium motor yacht CONTRABAND, which was built for Newport Shipyard owner Charlie Dana, who also owns one of the first boats built at NEB, the 22 year old 21.3m/70ft aluminium ketch SAINT ROQUE.
Construction began on M/Y CONTRABAND in July 2017 and represents the largest yacht so far from NEB. The naval architecture also comes from the shipyard and a plumb bow combined with classic styling gives her a timeless appearance with modern efficiency. She is designed for world cruising and has been described by New England Boatworks as ‘durable and rugged’, fitted with tugboat engines capable of 13 knots while cruising and designed to be operated by a small crew.
