Originally constructed by leading Dutch builder Kuipers in 2003, the 30m motor yacht Maverick was relaunched in January 2013, following a full exterior repaint at Oceania Marine. Completed in just over 10 weeks, the 30m superyacht Maverick got a new underwater hull, topsides as well as superstructure. All work was performed under cover in Paint Shed C at Oceania Marine shipyard in Port Whangarei, New Zealand.
Managing Director, Martin Gleeson, says: “This is the first full repaint of the 2013 season and it is great to get it done to such a level of excellence and client satisfaction as it sets the standard for the projects that follow. I take ‘my hat off’ to the paint team of Oceania Marine Coatings and the project managers here at the shipyard for the job they have done.”
Jim Loynes, Oceania Marine Yacht Liaison, was involved in the 30m Maverick yacht project from the outset and says: “There is nothing more satisfying than seeing something through to such a great result. The vessel topsides are finished in a very striking Awlgrip ‘Stars and Stripes’ and with her Awlgrip ‘Matterhorn White’ superstructure she is sure to impress wherever she goes.”
While luxury yacht Maverick is not the biggest yacht by modern standards, she is quite a complicated vessel when it comes to repainting and the team did a great job in completing it to a very high standard indeed.
The launch of Maverick yacht was followed immediately by the haul out of a 37m Dubois sloop for a hull repaint in Awlgrip metallic grey, which should also look stunning when the covers come off in early April. As always while this project is going on Oceania Marine has other things running concurrently with one yacht in the shed for some longer term works and various others being hauled for maintenance works, including a very large catamaran due shortly, handling these vessels is one of the company’s specialities as Oceania Marine is one of the few yards in the south Pacific region able to accommodate this type of vessel.
