Motor yacht Ocean Alexander 82 Cockpit has recently set the sea trial record, as proudly announced by Alexander Marine, the builder of Ocean Alexander yachts. Fitted with twin MTU 1920HP engines, the updated Ocean Alexander 82 Cockpit superyacht achieved 28 knots during sea trials performed at the factory.
Luxury yacht Ocean Alexander 82 Cockpit ran with 70% fuel and 100% water, with 11 people on board, and a sea trial load of 73.5 tons. The acceleration was maximized to 2447 RPM in 29 seconds. The optimum cruise speed for the Ocean Alexander 82 is 18.5 knots @ 1800 RPM or 21.1 knots at 2000 RPM. The first will provide a range of 471 nautical miles or the latter at 409 nautical miles.
The Ocean Alexander 82 yacht was able to reach record speeds due to several innovative upgrades within the construction of the vessel. Several weight-saving technologies were included such as: aluminum beams, advanced composite materials that are also used in aerospace and wind turbine industry, specialty select lightweight marine plywood, honeycomb plywood, aluminum honeycomb backing in select areas and cutting-edge underwater exhausts and through hulls to minimize drag.
None of the usual luxuries that Ocean Alexander is known for was sacrificed in the updated 82 Cockpit superyacht. The extended cockpit provides plenty of space for all the fishing gear you may require. The aft deck allows for al fresco dining with a bar that makes entertaining an ease. Dual helm stations provide the option to captain from the pilothouse below or on the open Flybridge that is outfitted with 3 Stidd helm chairs along with a substantial settee and table arrangement as well as a large bar. Interiors are filled with the details that will please any discerning yacht owner with capacity to sleep 6 and a crew of 2-3.
With factories in Taiwan and China, Ocean Alexander’s combined yacht-building facilities make it among the largest in Asia. Ocean Alexander is based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Its yachts are available in the U.S. through dealers in Seattle, WA; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Newport Beach, CA; and Sturgeon Bay, WI.
