Mourjan Marinas IGY, the developer and manager of luxury superyacht marinas and yachting lifestyle destinations, has appointed Simon Maree as its Marina Manager for Lusail Marina, its flagship project in Doha, Qatar.
Simon, an Australian from Sydney, will oversee the management and day-to-day running of the Lusail Marina, the first marina to be developed within the prestigious Lusail City development in Doha.

The marina, which started to be developed in October this year and that has made rapid progress, is set to become one of the premiere marina facilities in the Middle East, offering 96 modern floating marina berths catering for yachts of 10-40 metres in length.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to be working with Mourjan Marinas IGY on such a unique project and I’m looking forward to bringing the skills and experience I’ve developed in Australia to help further enhance the marina industry in the Middle East,” Simon said.
“It’s a tremendously exciting time to be based in Qatar and the Middle East and the boating and yachting industry can only go from strength to strength given the growing emphasis on waterfront living and lifestyles here.”
Simon comes from having worked for the past three years with d’Albora, Australia’s largest marina group, where he was Marina Manager based in Sydney’s famous Rushcutters Bay.
His responsibilities saw him manage the full operation of Sydney Harbour’s premiere marina and he now looks forward to bringing the expertise learnt with d’Albora Marinas to Lusail Marina.
He also has a wealth of hospitality experience, having worked in a range of roles in Australia that helped Simon to develop a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction, an area that is at the heart of Mourjan Marinas business.
He has an understanding of Mourjan Marinas IGY’s philosophy and standards after working with them on various projects to familiarise himself with the Middle East market before moving into his position in Doha.
Simon graduated with a Bachelor of Business at the University of Technology in Sydney where he majored in management and marketing. He also holds a number of marina-specific qualifications, including occupational health and safety certificates.
Following Simon’s appointment, Mourjan Marinas IGY has announced a special offer which will see people receive one month of complimentary berthing when they sign an annual berthing agreement at Lusail Marina before the 31 January 2011.
