Multihull luxury yacht owners cruising around the popular Eastern Mediterranean have been happy to see the launch of the new lift-out facilities at the region’s only luxury marina, Karpaz Gate, in particular suited for wide beam yachts. Karpaz Gate is one of a very few marinas in the entire eastern Mediterranean providing these services to multihull yachts.

Karpaz Gate Marina

The 300-berth marina, which is part of the all-new Karpaz Bay Resort in Northern Cyprus, opened in June 2011 and its 18,000 sqm dry dock – the largest in the eastern Mediterranean – and its state-of-the-art lift-out facilities were launched earlier in 2012.

The marina’s 300 ton travel lift, with a wide beam option, can accommodate yachts up to 10 metres wide, 4m draft and up to 45m length. All equipment is brand new and is operated by a highly experienced technical team who are based permanently at the marina. This consists of six professionals, all of whom were recruited for their knowledge and experience in relation to all aspects of technical support. Consequently the services available at the marina include mechanics, GRP, painting, electrical support, and general maintenance.

Multihulls at Karpaz Gate Marina

Approximately 5% of the yachts in the marina are multihull vessels, and 40% of the marina’s dry dock clients over the 2011/12 winter period were multihulls. Those which have recently used Karpaz Gate Marina’s hauling-out facilities include Lagoon 400’s; Catamaran ALGASI and Catamaran KIKI, and a Lagoon 380, Catamaran EVE. A number of other catamarans are currently using the marina as their permanent base.

Multihull owner, Philippe Durand, who has used the marina’s lift-out facilities, said: “The boat has been lifted out and launched with ease and I am delighted with the service, particularly as it is hard to find a place that can get a boat of 8 metres width out of the water.  The additional servicing work we had done and the team’s assistance has been perfect. The team is very kind, has good availability, and is very professional.”
