Guangzhou Customs has officially issued the On-Water Yacht Bonded Area Registration Certificate to Nansha Marina, a beautiful China yacht vacation destination. This document approves the establishment of the first on water bonded area for yachts in Guangzhou, dedicated to both sailing and motor yachts. Its total area will spread over 2800 m2, and it will be able to host 16 yachts measuring up to 100 feet in length at any time.
Yacht Bonded Area will store yachts/boats waiting for re-export (so called transit trade), imported yachts pending customs duties and tax payment, vessels temporary placed in the bonded warehouse by foreign traders and dealer’s yachts pending other customs procedures and approval, etc. Customs officers will carry out management and control over the goods coming to and leaving the area via the internet monitoring, using a unified information management system, which will significantly simplify procedures and increase efficiency to the whole process.
The establishment of on-water yacht bonded area will allow imported yacht/s to carry out the functions of a bonded warehouse right on the water. This will be the ideal solution for larger size yachts, as effective storage was a major problem for the land based bonded warehouses. In a longer term perspective, this initiative will attract world-known brands to South China, inspire them to showcase their products for buyers, organize different kinds of water sports events and races.
Yacht bonded warehouse will allow yacht dealers to cut down the transportation cost and defer import taxes till buyer’s commitment occurs. This will definitely benefit importers and brand dealers’ cash flow on taxes and reduce companies’ financial pressure. For buyers/customers, they will be more enticed to buy, seeing the real product, than a brochure and not having to wait for months… for the arrival of the yacht they ordered.
The establishment of the on-water yacht bonded area is another turning point in the history of Nansha Marina. It will attract more imported yachts of big sizes to come to Nansha, significantly decrease cost and financial pressure of yacht manufacturers and dealers, and by simplifying the customs formalities will resolve one of the main issues currently limiting yacht movements in the region. All these will definitely bring new opportunities and perspectives for yacht industry development in Guangdong province. Yacht industry development, in its turn, will stimulate the development of the industries and services closely related to yachting: yacht parts manufacturing, maintenance and repair services, yacht charter and cruising, water sports and leisure, F&B services and tourism, –all these will considerably contribute and stimulate the economic development of Nansha.
At the same time, this project will play an important role in promoting Nansha as a perfect venue for major international water sport events and races, significantly increase visitors to Nansha, Guangzhou and Guangdong, as well as bring new development opportunities and promising perspectives to this region’s tourism economy and related industries and services.
