Constructed by Green Marine and launched in June 2012, the magnificent 100-foot WallyCento sailing yacht Hamilton has won the ‘Sailing Yacht over 24-metres’ category in the third annual Nautical Design Awards, organised by Yacht & Sail magazine as well as the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI) in Italy.
The ADI is known internationally for its annual Compasso d’Oro awards that are respected around the world for their recognition of the very best in industrial design. The Nautical Design Awards are an extension of their expertise in such events. They extend across ten categories and reward the most innovative projects undertaken by the Italian yachting industry.
WallyCento luxury yacht Hamilton was designed by naval architects judel/vrolijk & co with exterior styling and interior design by Design Unlimited. Monk Design contributed the steering pedestals and central instrument panel.
The judges’ citation stated that “(Hamilton) impressed the jury as a substantial boat intended to race at a high level yet also designed to function fully as a cruising yacht. The lines are very clean and while the deck is functional for racing, it also has the capability of being laid out with large cushions when cruising. The interior is characterised by an understated elegance that reflects the ethos underlying the whole project while not being too minimalist.”
The judging panel was chaired by Walter de ‘Silva and the jury members included mayor of Venice Giorgio Armani, Giorgio Orsoni and entrepreneurs Vittorio Missoni and Lamberto Vallarino Gancia.
