The prominent US luxury yacht builder, Nordhavn, is currently preparing to start the 2013 cruising season with the 5th annual Nordhavn Rendezvous. This year’s event will run in Mystic, CT, from June 13 to 17.
About 22 sets of owners bringing 17 boats are set to gather at the Mystic Seaport docks for fun, camaraderie, education, and exploration of the Mystic area. Participants of the rendezvous will be treated to dinner parties, exciting tours and a series of seminars that includes everything from LED lighting to spare parts and liferafts. Various P.A.E. staff – including Nordhavn’s president, Dan Streech – will be in attendance for all the revelry.
An Open House for interested Nordhavn prospects will be held during the course of the Rendezvous on Friday, June 14. Potential Nordhavn buyers can inspect models such as the N40, N43, N56 Motorsailer and the N68 as well as talk to P.A.E. staff and Nordhavn owners.
Despite all the activities planned for participants, most say it’s the chance to celebrate the cruising lifestyle with other owners that they most look forward to. “This is going to be a really fun event with lots of things going on,” says Nordhavn 43 yacht owner and Rendezvous committee member Jim Fuller. “But once (the owners) all get together, it doesn’t take much for us to have a great time.”
The Mystic get-together marks the return of the Nordhavn rendezvous to the New England area. The very first Nordhavn Rendezvous took place in Bristol, RI back in 2008. Since then, the annual celebration of Nordhavn boat owners has been hosted in Dana Point, CA, Port Ludlow, WA, Stuart, FL, and Sydney, Australia.
But the good times aren’t limited to the annual Nordhavn celebrations; there are plenty of informal Nordhavn rendezvous that place several times during a given year – all over the globe. After all, when you’re a Nordhavn owner, you’ve got a reason to celebrate every day!
