Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) are pleased to announce that they have signed their first contract with British carbon racing yachts and composite component company, Green Marine. The high performance, Nigel Irens-designed, 78-foot fast sailing yacht APC 78 is a beautiful catamaran, representing a new breed of design, mixing up the technology and build methods of a stripped out racing multihull, with the standard of full-fitout as well as amenity expected of a modern superyacht. Scheduled for launch in 2014, the carbon catamaran will be equipped with a custom lightweight vertical retracting bow thruster, model H-250-V.
OYS have worked closely with the Green Marine team to ensure the thruster design works seamlessly with the on board systems to produce maximum thrust yet wrapped up in a super lightweight package.
“This yacht is about having more power and less weight in a compact package. Only OYS could give us the power to weight ratio that was wanted in a package that could fit the slim catamaran hullforms. The ability to tweak motor and blade design will ensure the final unit is a perfect match to the hydraulic power available,” James Day, GM Project Manager.
Mark Barwell, Sales Director at Ocean Yacht Systems hopes that this will be the first of many projects with the Green Marine team.
