The spectacular motor yacht Talisman C (ex Talisman II) has recently received an entire automated blind solution by one of the top blind as well as shading specialists, Oceanair. The company is delighted to present an overview case study on the Talisman C superyacht.
The Client:
Luxury yacht Talisman C is a stunning 70,5 metre newly built vessel by leading Turkish shipyard, Proteksan-Turquoise. Designed by H2 Design and Proteksan-Turquoise architects, she has room for 12 guests and 20 crew over six deck levels. The interior design goal was to deliver a personalized and relaxed atmosphere, combing the very latest technology and styling.
The Challenges:
In total, 16 rooms needed blinds installed including saloons, lounges, dining rooms, bathrooms, the gymnasium and games room. Due to their inherent quietness, there was a customer requirement of all blinds to be automated by Lutron Intelligent drive systems. However, prior to this requirement much smaller non-Lutron motors had been specified, the initial challenge therefore was to fit much larger Lutron motors and blinds into recesses originally designed for smaller motors.
In addition, Oceanair were also asked to install multiple blinds into the same aperture, for example a venetian blind would be complemented by a Openshade roller blind. For the customer, this offered better control of light and helped create the right atmosphere whilst being able to maintain privacy.
The Solutions:
With years of experience in the superyacht sector, designing blinds for use in confined spaces and finding solutions for every type of window of any shape and incline, Oceanair were able to specify and provide a full range of blinds, easily adapting to designer specified fabrics. Powered Wooden Venetian, Openshades, Roman Blinds and Curtains were all successfully installed aboard megayacht Talisman C.
As Lutron approved specialists, Oceanair were particularly suited to overcoming the challenges of this project. The Oceanair design team worked alongside H2 and Proteksan-Turquoise designers, subtlety modifying each blind aperture so that they discretely accommodated larger Luton motors and hardware. The team opted to substitute the original cassette roller blind for Oceanair’s compact open roller blind, with the same end appearance, the Openshade is an easily adaptable custom solution best suited to places where installation area is limited. Each Lutron motor was fitted with an Oceanair designed gear box, serving to increase motor torque, and in turn, it’s lifetime.
Where there was a requirement for multiple blinds in the same aperture, Oceanair used an in-house designed proven hardware solution, stacking the blinds compactly, and in turn minimising the overall space taken up by the head boxes.
Oceanair’s survey team was called upon at the offset. Full installation was carried out and delivered on time at the shipyard in Istanbul, Turkey.
Testimonial from H2 Yacht Design:
“Oceanair has delivered an excellent level of service and support throughout the project, overcoming the inherent design challenges and developing a high quality product to suit the application. The whole process has run smoothly with the help of Oceanair’s in-house team, and we are very happy with the integration of Oceanair and Lutron products.”
