Oceanco and Moore Yacht Design have collaborated on an exciting 85.75m motor yacht project called Waterfall. The preliminary engineering studies are already under way for project Waterfall and Oceanco and Moore yacht design have gone to considerable lengths to copy write the unique innovative features of this yacht.
One of the primary design objectives for the superyacht project was to create a yacht with exceptional exterior styling, boasting original features that would make a statement in any harbour.
Andrew Moore of Moore Yacht Design likens the exterior form of the Waterfall superyacht design to an athlete—muscular, powerful, yet stream-lined. The yachts’ simple sculptural faceted surfaces come together to form crisp lines giving definition and visually fluid dynamic movement in the surfaces making the yacht look as if it is moving even when standing still.
The simple, non-fussy nature of the design gives the yacht a clean, modern profile displaying a freshness yet timeless appeal.
The general arrangement of the 85.75m Oceanco yacht by Moore Yacht Design has an innovative layout based on three themes: Living, Entertaining and Personal spaces. Each theme has been conceived to aid easy movement around the yacht for guests by grouping these different areas together into separate blocks so that similar spaces flow together.
The principal Entertaining areas on the megayacht are aft of the main deck where there is a unique pool with cascading waterfalls. Andrew explains his inspiration for the waterfall feature “My inspiration for this was two-fold. Firstly, it came from looking at photographs of stately homes, many of which have spectacular water features pivotal to the garden design. (With a yacht being of similar status to one of these properties I thought that a grand water feature on the yacht would greatly enhance the feeling of opulence.) Secondly, it was family holidays spent in the most beautiful natural areas of Great Britain such as the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, the Highlands, and the islands of Scotland where the unadulterated power and splendour of waterfalls have always excited me.”
The falling water appears to come down from within the main deck superstructure into the pool before falling off the end of the pool into further cascades, which plunge down on both sides of the aft end superstructure. When this yacht is moored stern to in a superyacht harbour, the pool will no doubt elicit a major ‘ wow factor’’ from passers-by and provide a dramatic point of entry for arriving guests.
Greeted by two waterfalls either side of the aft staircase, guests will walk up a central staircase which splits both port and starboard leading up to bridges over the moving water below. There are two alternative design options for the aft including one with a large pool, a bar which can be accessed in or out of the water and spa pool jets in the forward side of the pool. This is intended for charterers who have a love of being in the water. The second option entails a smaller but equally dramatic cascading pool, with more focus on seating and sunbathing areas.
The Owner’s private deck of the 85.75m Motor yacht Waterfall Design has a generous suite and a lounge / office area as well as his-and-hers bathrooms. Externally on this deck, the owner can enjoy a private area with sunbeds, Spa Pool and seating areas.
The Sundeck has a large dining table able to host 14 charter guests. There are also sunbeds and ample lounging areas, plus a Spa Pool. There is a beach club situated on the lower deck at the water level which provides another option for relaxation.
About Moore Yacht Design
Andrew Moore started out in design by doing a BA Hons in transport design at Coventry University followed by an MA in Automotive design. After graduating, Andrew worked as a freelance designer for MG Rover before moving into the superyacht industry as a designer for Donald Starkey Designs in London, where he worked on the interiors and exteriors of seven yachts. Andrew then moved to H2 yacht design where he worked for 6 years collaborating on over 20 superyachts from 54 to 120metres, specialising in exterior design. Moore yacht design was established in 2008 as a design studio specialising in the exterior design of superyachts.
