Wendesday, October 2, saw the official opening of this year’s 53rd edition of the Genoa International Boat Show by Sara Armella, President of Fiera di Genova, and Anton Francesco Albertoni, President of Ucina. The all-new edition of the event, which involves the sea as well as the entire city, was opened in the presence of the Prefect of Genoa and the highest local authorities.
New dates – October 2 to 6, 2013 – an innovative layout, 180,000 square metres of exhibition space, including 100,000 of water surface, 6 thematic areas, all types of boats on display – from motor crafts to sailboats, from tenders to superyachts, etc. – and boats ranging from 1.85 to 80 metres in length.
But also 750 exhibitors, 1000 boats on display, including more than 100 new crafts, conferences, cultural and entertainment venues in the city for the industry’s most comprehensive and engaging exhibition of all time at the international level.
A five – day show that brings the event up to the latest standards of international tradeshows, a new layout that gives more space to water areas, enhancing Genoa’s unique feature of having the “sea inside”, 6 thematic areas designed for an even more visitor – friendly event.
These are some of the main new features of the event, which focuses on products by dividing them into different categories: Power Village, dedicated to marine engines, Boat Discovery, targeting first – time boat buyers, Sailing World, a paradise for sailors, Motorboats, showcasing speedboats, motor boats, motor yachts and superyachts, and finally Tech Trade, dedicated to accessories.
A new way to conceive and use the exhibition space, an event created in collaboration with exhibitors to attract, welcome and engage visitors.
The symbol of this innovative concept is the “Red Wall” – a striking red architectural element that characterises the show – which accompanies visitors through a guided path and draws their attention to the sea. The tour becomes more and more exciting through interactive demonstrations and sea test trials. “Experience” is the key word of this edition of the Show.
The Sea Experience area provides an entertaining opportunity for interactivity with products relating to the sea and marine activities, including water sports, tourism, training courses, clothing, books, etc…
As for the exhibition offer, the show will host more than 750 direct and indirect exhibitors, displaying all types of boats, ranging from motor crafts to sailboats, from tenders to superyachts, etc. These include the biggest exhibit, the 80-metre CRN 129 superyacht “Chopi Chopi” built by CRN, one of the largest ever made in Italy, and the smallest, the “Roll185” rubber dinghy, from the Arimar boatyard (just 1.85 metres in
length).
Finally, the great synergy between organisers and institutions – the Municipality and the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa, etc. – was crucial in establishing a constant and open dialogue with the whole city and enhancing the event, including with GenovaInBlu initiatives, “off-site events”, and special tour packages.
The ticket to the 53rd edition of the Genoa International Boat Show now includes an “Enjoy Genoa Pass”, a card which ensures special offers and discounts to take part in the event and enjoy the city at the same time.
