Yacht management expert, Michael Reardon, is excited to announce the opening of his new firm, Reardon Yacht Consulting (RYC). Headquartered in the lovely Florida yacht charter location – Fort Lauderdale, RYC is a hands-on agency, providing luxury yacht and superyacht owners, captains, brokers, as well as luxury yacht charter agents with a full menu of highly customized professional yacht management services, comprising ISM and MLC implementation, management of new build and refit projects, as well as crew management.
RYC Founder and President Michael Reardon brings nearly 30 years of experience in operating and managing luxury yachts and superyachts to his new firm. Following a youth spent racing sailing yachts and crewing aboard tall ships, he pursued an education in engineering and naval architecture. In the late 1980s, Reardon began his formal career in the yachting industry with six years of service as captain of private and charter sailing and motor yachts from New England to Grenada.
Coming ashore in 1992 to start a family, Reardon spent the past 23 years as a yacht management executive with several of the largest companies in the international yachting industry, including 11 years at Fraser Yachts, where he directed a team of more than 30 professionals dedicated to yacht management, luxury charter and crew placement. For the past seven years prior to starting his own firm, Reardon served as head of U.S. Operations for Yacht Management at Hill Robinson in Fort Lauderdale.
“Working with some of the biggest companies in the yachting industry has given me a unique opportunity to gain experience in all phases of international yacht and charter yacht management,” Reardon said. “Now I am delighted to have the chance to draw on my knowledge base to provide my exceptionally high level of service to clients in the setting of a much smaller, high-touch firm.”
Over the course of his career to date, Reardon has provided yacht management services for many of the world’s best known luxury yachts, including the 83′ Kuipers Coy Koi, the 155′ Feadship superyacht Charade, the 161′ Trinity motor yacht Glaze (ex-Lady Michelle), the 163′ Trinity charter yacht Zoom Zoom Zoom, the 197-foot Oceanco super yacht Pegasus II (ex-Alfa Four), the 198′ Halter motor yacht Pangaea, the 257′ Abeking & Rasmussen mega yacht Amaryllis, the 257′ Royal Denship charter yacht Pegasus V (ex-Princess Mariana), and the 425′ Lürssen mega yacht Octopus.
“I took over Pegasus II in a refit in Fort Lauderdale in 2008. Michael and his team worked to help transform the program into a success,” said Captain Martyn Walker. “From a 60-meter Oceanco to the purchase of the 78-meter Royal Denship, Reardon has assisted with the safety implementation, MLC compliance, budgeting and crew issues, to name a few.”
Michel Karsenti, owner’s representative for the recent refit project on the 161′ Trinity superyacht Glaze (ex-Lady Michelle), commented, “The refit was an ambitious project transforming a yacht that had suffered a consuming engine room fire back into a luxurious charter yacht. Reardon and the team executed the refit with exceptional results. Not only was the project carried out on schedule, the collaboration with Michael Reardon allowed us to complete it way under the estimated budgets….”
“As we have embarked on owning a yacht again, [Michael] has assisted with providing many services – from survey, to purchase negotiations, to refit planning, to insurance and ocean freight,” said Robert Bermudez, owner of Coy Koi and Maharani. “He is knowledgeable and helpful and provides the casual, personal touch of a guy who really knows his stuff.”
Reardon also is dedicated to helping the yachting industry grow and advance. An active member of the U.S. Superyacht Association (USSA), he is on its Advocacy Committee and also will serve as moderator of the Keynote Panel for the upcoming USSA Superyacht Summit on March 24-25, 2015 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Reardon also is a founding member of the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA) Yacht Management Committee, and is a member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA).
