With just a couple of weeks to go to the 2014 Palma Superyacht Show, the event is expected to provide an amazing display of beautiful yachts for sale and luxury yacht charter, with prices about as competitive as they are likely to be for the foreseeable future!
With a ratio of 50/50 between sail and motor boats there will be plenty for early season prospective buyers to browse and ponder over, when the doors open to the 31st Boatshow Palma with a large selection +24 metre offerings lined up right alongside it…
For those who have some high performance sailing in mind, and looking for a yacht that has proved itself in the superyacht racing arena, they might want to step aboard the 38.8 metre, 2006 built charter yacht Ganesha, from the yard of Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand.
Taking the Cruising Division first place in the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Sardinia in 2012, in some of the trickiest wind conditions ever seen around that course, is a testament to superyacht Ganesha’s sailing pedigree. And being from the boards of Ed Dubois‘s naval architecture practice, just serves to put more solid credibility behind her name.
Having superior sailing performance combined with style and safety, is one way Ganesha yacht has been described. But at close to 130ft long, with a price tag of 12,450,000 euros, she won’t be for the prospective owner who is looking for a budget boat. That said, with a cruising range of 3750 nautical miles at a steady 10 knots, even without hoisting the sails, and luxury accommodation for 8+2 guests plus a crew of up to 6, she does present as a very serious ‘seven seas’ cruising yacht. And she can be wound up for some serious regatta racing for the owner with family or friends who are so inclined!
Keeping the balance by taking a look at a motor yacht, we have to mention one here that many a tourist has oggled enviously at on her berth in Mallorca, as they stroll along Palma de Mallorca‘s busy sea front road the Paseo Maritimo.
Built in Australia by Evolution Yachts, the 33.7 metre charter yacht Benita Blue, has turned many a head with her distinctive sky blue gel coat, and sleek streamlined profile. And her aerodynamic looks don’t deceive… she will get up to 25 knots when powered up onto the plane by a couple of 1800hp MTU diesel engines.
Benita Blue has accommodation for up to 10 guests and a very luxurious fit out below decks, combined with a good build/class spec to DNV +1A1 HSLC R0 Yacht, MCA.
With the relaxation of the dreaded matriculation tax in Spain, she could make a very nice charter yacht operating from her Palma base, and her asking price of 3,250,000 euros (plusVAT) might just tempt somebody to have a go!
