Porto Montenegro Yacht Club (PMYC) is a new partner of one of China’s most prominent yacht clubs, the Visun Royal Yacht Club (VRYC), Sanya. The reciprocal agreement was signed and announced during the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show via video conference, at a private gala dinner hosted by the Club. As well as officially inviting the Club to the fabulous Montenegro yacht holiday destination, Porto Montenegro’s Managing Director, Oliver Corlette, gave an introductory presentation about PMYC as well as the agreement to 50 of its VIP members.
“The yachting industry in China is growing steadily, and it is important for the Mediterranean’s leading clubs and marinas to start making connections with those in Asia. Not only will agreements like this support the growth of the industry globally but will ensure both sets of members receive the best possible service when outside of their home port or club,” explains Mr Corlette. The agreement includes a variety of events, service exchanges and benefits for the members of both Clubs, aiming to promote travel to each reciprocal destination.
The PMYC was established in 2010 and has evolved into the heart and soul of sailing in Montenegro. With outstanding facilities and beautiful surroundings alongside its growing regatta calendar and racing fleet, the Club attracts local and international race teams and organisations to compete in the Boka Bay.
The VRYC was founded in 2015 and is positioned at the mouth of Sanya’s main waterway, a natural harbour where the East River meets the West. The most influential yacht club in China it has been host to the annual China Rendezvous since 2010, playing an important role in the development and awareness of China’s yachting and luxury lifestyle industries. In 2012, the YRYC also became affiliated with the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), the first Asian member of YCM’s La Belle Classe Destinations.
