Visitors to Falmouth Bay will experience amazing summer this year, with the beautiful J-Class Regatta shortly followed by the highly anticipated Pendennis Cup, sponsored by Lewmar.
J Class Regatta
Four glorious J-Class yachts will take to the start line at this prestigious regatta, to be held between 26th – 30th June.
All four participants have chosen Lewmar equipment to achieve the combination of elegant styling, cutting-edge materials technology and superior performance demanded by these beautiful yachts.
Charter yacht Ranger (J5), referred to as the ‘Super J’ following her defence of the America’s Cup against Endeavour ll superyacht, has Lewmar hardware, hydraulic winches and thrusters, along with a Lewmar anchoring system and Navtec hydraulic cylinders on board.
Superyacht Rainbow (JH2)- Based on the original winner of the 1934 America’s Cup and developed by Dyktra, she is fitted with Lewmar winches and hardware, together with a Lewmar anchoring system and Navtec hydraulic cylinders.
Sailing yacht Velsheda (JK7) – The only original J-Class on the start line, she was designed by Charles Nicholson and built by Camper & Nicholson in 1933. Today she is fitted with Lewmar winches as well as Lewmar steering and docking systems.
Luxury yacht Lionheart (H1) – Designed by Hoek Design in the Netherlands, she is fitted with a Lewmar thruster docking system.
The Pendennis Cup
Held every 2 years, the 2012 entry list sees 13 yachts taking part, a healthy increase over the 2010 event.
The star of the show, Athos superyacht, is the largest entrant at 62m (203’) and fully equipped with Lewmar hardware, deck winches and line management systems.
Custom Lewmar equipment can also be found on sailing yacht Adela, Mariette superyacht, luxury yacht Unfurled and superyacht Velacarina, featuring classically styled bronze effect winches. As usual, Lewmar’s service team will be available for the duration of the regatta to provide all the support and advice the crews might need.
Lewmar is proud to be a part of these spectacular events and it looks forward to these great opportunities for large superyachts to experience the challenging conditions of racing in UK waters.
