Perini Navi 50 metres sailing yacht C.2173, the 6th of the 50 metres series, arrives in Viareggio. The delivery of Perini Navi / Ron Holland designed yacht is scheduled for 2012.
C. 2173 yacht, sistership to the 50 m ketch Baracuda launched 2010, represents the latest evolution of this prestigious 50 meter series in the Perini Navi fleet. Designed by Perini Navi in collaboration with Ron Holland, she will be ketch-rigged with a swing keel and centralised servo-assisted sail-plan controls. The hull and superstructure will be built in aluminium with a mixed longitudinal – transverse structure. Main propulsion will be provided by twin MTU 8V M72, 720 kW diesel engines.
The 50 metre Perini Navi C.2173 yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in 5 comfortable cabins, including the full beam owner’s suite, and the interior, in a first time collaboration will be conceived by the architectural studio Edge Design.
After signing the sales contract in August 2009, the aluminium hull and superstructure were completed at Perini Navi Group’s Turkish plant, Perini Istanbul – Yildiz, together with the hull turning operations in April 2010. After mating to the superstructure, outfit work will continue in the Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio after being transported by sea.
Sailing Yacht C.2173 is the sixth 50m sailing yacht in the Perini Navi fleet. The first 50m, is Phryne sailing yacht (Steel,1999), and was then followed by sailing yacht Aurore (Steel, 2000), SY Perseus (Steel, 2001), …Is A Rose (Steel, 2003) and sailing yacht Baracuda (Aluminum, 2008).
