The Perini Navi Group, world-renowned company specializing in the design and construction of large motor and sailing yachts, is delighted to announce the world debut of the recently launched sailing yacht PERSEUS³ (P3, hull C.2218) at the upcoming 2014 Monaco Yacht Show. Superyacht PERSEUS³ is the second sloop in their new generation 60m series, launched at the Group’s Viareggio shipyard.
This series has important innovations in hull lines and on board technology.
Designed by Perini Navi naval architects in collaboration with Ron Holland, the design and realization of luxury yacht PERSEUS³ has been deeply optimized for racing and represents a decisive technical step forward in the group’s 60m series: a progression of aluminum vessels below 500 GRT created by Perini Navi following from the great success of the 10 yachts built in the 56m series.
60m mega yacht PERSEUS³ features a twin rudder system with innovative twin rudder control system (designed by Perini Navi).
For the first time ever on a Perini, PERSEUS³ superyacht is equipped with a carbon bowsprit. The larger downwind sailing areas gained by this feature, together with PERSEUS³’s massive main sail (840 sqm), make PERSEUS³ total sail area 30% larger than the 60m ketch.
Her towering 75m carbon fiber mast and carbon fiber standing rigging will host an impressive sail set that includes: 2 Gennakers, 1 Code 0, 1 Reacher, 1 Blade, 1 Spinnaker Stay Sail, 1 working Jib and an imposing Main Sail for a combined area of 10.000 square meters.
She features the new generation of captive reel winches and furlers. The jib winches pull a maximum load of 30 tons and have a maximum line speed of 40 metres per minute. Variable speed electric motors and furlers, duly synchronized by the Perini Navi Automated Sail Handling System, drastically improve furling and deploy times while speeding the tacking and jibing time by over 75% compared to vessels of the previous generation.
The interiors of PERSEUS³ yacht were designed in house by Perini interior design team and can accommodate twelve passengers in five cabins, one of which has sliding convertible twins/king bed for added versatility. The owner’s suite is full beam and can be divided by a removable wall.
Two 6.20 carbon fibre custom tenders, two opening beach platforms and a pool on the foredeck compliment the exterior layout with room for plenty of water toys and great access to the sea.
A third yacht in this series is scheduled to be delivered in 2015.
