From Columbus Yachts, part of the Palumbo Superyachts Group comes 80m/262ft luxury yacht DRAGON, the new flagship for the shipyard with an impressive selection of amenities on board for parties in the Mediterranean cruising grounds, the Caribbean & Bahamas and beyond.
Built in just 27 months, she features naval engineering from internationally renowned Hydro Tec, who also produced her exterior styling while the broad and invigorating interiors were created by Francesco Guida.
The exterior of superyacht DRAGON makes a dramatic first impression with the deep fold-down swim platform opening up to the beach club while two staircases sweep up to the massive main deck aft. Here, a sunbed covers the aft and plush C-shaped sofas face inwards around coffee tables.
A staircase to starboard leads up to the upper deck which can be a private space useable only by the occupants of the Master suite located on this level. Sun loungers cover the stern and there is space for an alfresco dining table, while the foredeck comes with a helideck and has more private seating for guests to sit and marvel at the surroundings.
The sundeck is accessible via a lift (elevator) and boasts chaise-loungers along with the bow and a 7m/22.9ft swimming pool to the stern. A blade waterfall separates the whirlpool from the main pool for privacy and serenity while remaining close to the social scene.
Guests entering through the main deck aft will come across a fresh and calm contemporary living room furnished with a Chelini table and C-shaped seats for close conversation between guests. Broad windows measuring 5mx2m (16ftx6.6ft) give the room a beach club ambience and the dining area has a 14-seater table made by Giorgetti with a Roman travertine top, maple edges and leather legs.
The bridge deck is the perfect place for some pampering, offering a bar, a sauna and a Turkish bath, plus numerous sofas and sunbeds. At night, three back-lit blue agate panels draw in the eye and enhance the environment.
The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 12 guests over 6 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 1 VIP stateroom and 4 further guest cabins.
The Master suite is located on the upper deck, which is completely reserved for the occupants’ use and makes use of the full beam to provide a 110m2/1184ft2 room with 180-degree views of the private foredeck. In addition to a separate wardrobe and vanity, there is a Roman travertine-clad bathroom and sauna. The main deck forward is the location of the four guest and VIP cabins, all offering a Roman travertine-clad bathroom.
The crew accommodation is located on the lower deck and provides 10 cabins along with a mess, dinette, steel kitchen, gym and technical spaces along with a tender garage that can store two tenders measuring 7m/22.9ft and 9.5m/31ft. Beneath the helideck, there is also room for three jet skis. A beach club in the stern ensures that the swim platform sees plenty of use as a sunbathing spot, with a wet bar ready to provide refreshments day or night.
Even more technical spaces can be found on the tank deck below, which contains a laundry and several dry and cold storage rooms out of the way of guest amenities.
Superyacht DRAGON is designed for extensive cruising, offering an extensive cruising range above 6,200 nautical miles at an economical speed of 12 knots, while a maximum speed of 17 knots is achievable using the twin MTU engines that each produce 2,240 kW.
See luxury yacht DRAGON up close when she makes her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show taking place this September 2019.
