With the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show successfully concluded last month, the Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) is just around the corner. The event will be running in Phuket, a fantastic Thailand yacht charter destination, from January 8 to 11, 2015.
The mainly European based yacht manufacturers are increasingly interested in the fast growing Asian market and the feedback from Monaco was just that. As marinas spring up all over Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia Asian buyers are in the market to join the marine leisure set. Where better to sample the goods and the cruising grounds than South East Asia’s stunning playground in Phuket?
Meanwhile in Incheon, South Korea the Asian Games are drawing to a close. A raft of Thai sailors battled other nations to win nine medals in sailing. Phuket will host the Asian Beach Games 2014, with over 4,000 athletes and officals attending. The games begin on November 14th, with marine events include sailing, water-sking, wakeboarding and wind-surfing.
Growing the Show
PIMEX 2015 is getting on with early bookings filling the hall and water display. Royal Phuket Marina, the home of Asia’s favourite Boat Show since 2007 is moving forward with Phase 3 and by January there will be five top class restaurants on the boardwalk and pop up food and beverage outlets planned for the duration of the show.
Whisgars, the high-end whisky and cigars bars in Bangkok will create a whisky tasting pop up event at RPM’s Speakeasy bar.
As in recent years the show is well supported by luxury brands, high class property, top end autos and many visitors keen to buy. Local expats, Bangkok Thais, Regional visitors and high-networth prospective buyers made up the majority of prospective buyers with 49 nationalities represented in 2014. Russians, Europeans and Thais were strongly represented.
