Following a highly successful 12th Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) in January 2015, the organizers of the event are now proud to announce that 75% of available space for the 2016 PIMEX has already been sold. The next year’s Show will boast a dedicated in-water superyacht section, and will help introduce private yachts as well as luxury charter yachts from around the world to Phuket and Thailand.
Catering for yachts over 35m, there will be a VIP reception lounge in one of the dockside luxury villas for owners and agents to welcome invited guests, interested in a luxury superyacht charter or sale of a superyacht. Potential customers will board a luxury tender to visit one of the superyachts on show at the event.
Simpson Marine have confirmed a minimum of eight yachts to be showcased at the 2016 PIMEX, including Monte Carlo Yachts, Beneteau, Lagoon, and their newly acquired brand Sanlorenzo. Joining them with their biggest in-water display yet will be Azimut, who are expected to display four of their latest models. Also joining the in-water line-up for the 2016 Show will be Derani Yachts with Fairline, Gulf Craft and Majesty Yachts.
Next year’s Show will be hosted by the Royal Phuket Marina from January 7 to 10. The superyacht marina has recently announced a 5 Billion Baht expansion, scheduled to start this year. This is expected to make the marina an iconic waterfront lifestyle destination in Asia.
More developments to position Phuket as the superyacht hub of Asia include the granting of temporary charter licences to foreign flag yachts over 30m and amendments to current regulations that will allow easy and legal chartering for foreign-flagged superyachts in Thai waters.
